Moroccan Youths Arrested After Dangerous Swim Across Closed Ceuta Border

While the border with the city of Ceuta has been closed, four young Moroccans braved the sea to return to the country. However, they were arrested upon arrival at their destination.
The four young men began swimming from the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, on the beach of Tarajal, near the border post with Morocco, to a beach in Fnideq. Arrived safe and sound at their destination, they were arrested by the Moroccan authorities.
Since the closure of the Tarajal II border post, which separates Ceuta from Morocco, this is not the first time that young Moroccans have risked such danger. Five other young Moroccans are said to have made the same sea journey to reach the kingdom on March 16, 2020.
