Mohamed el-Maadioui lived a real nightmare. After a trip to Morocco, he was arrested at the El Prat airport in Barcelona on February 18, confused with a drug trafficker wanted in France.
Despite the protests of his son, his nephew and his cellmate, who served as an interpreter, Mohamed spent nine days in prison. His only crime? Sharing the same name and being born on the same day as the wanted man.
On February 27, Mohamed was finally released, exonerated by the authorities. He was able to reunite with his family and his former cellmate, relieved but marked by this ordeal.
