Moroccan Wrestler Zied Ayt Okrame Withdraws from Tokyo Olympics After Positive COVID-19 Test

As if fate was persecuting the Moroccan delegation in Tokyo, an athlete has just joined Samy Colman on the list of Moroccan athletes forced to abandon their dream of winning a medal. Wrestler Zied Ayt Okrame, the only Moroccan entered in Greco-Roman wrestling in Tokyo, tested positive for Coronavirus.
Zied Ayt Okrame (– 77 kg) withdraws due to a positive Covid-19 test, carried out this Thursday, July 29. Since he chose to defend the colors of Morocco, this is the second time he has participated in the Olympics. In 2016, he was eliminated in the 16th finals in Rio.
Zied Ayt Okrame was the only wrestler (out of the 11 entered) to secure his ticket to Tokyo at the end of the qualifying tournament for the Africa-Oceania zone, in April in Hammamet (Tunisia).
