Moroccan Show Jumper Withdraws from Tokyo Olympics After Positive COVID-19 Test

Another bad news for Moroccan athletes competing in Tokyo. Moroccan rider Samy Colman announced his withdrawal from the Olympic Games after testing positive for the coronavirus a few days ago. He joins Abdelkebir Ouaddar, Ghali Boukaa and Ali Ahrach with whom he had qualified for the show jumping competition.
"It is with great emotion that I announce today that I will unfortunately not be traveling to the Tokyo Olympic Games. Tested positive for covid a few days ago and although I am in good health, I will not be able to go to Japan in time," he wrote on his Facebook page.
Samy Colman also thanked the president of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian Sports Federation (FRMSE), his family, his supporters and all those who supported him. "I don’t hide my bitterness, so much was the desire to make you dream. This is a difficult news to accept, but I keep smiling while already looking to the future. After a fall, you always have to know how to get back up. We will do everything to come back stronger than ever."
He finally wished the best to his teammates. "I believe in you and in this team. Make us even prouder to be Moroccan," he said.
