Moroccan World Cup Star Ounahi’s January Transfer to Napoli Hits Passport Snag

Courted by several European clubs, including Napoli, Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi could remain with his club until the next summer transfer window. The reason: his Moroccan passport.
Author of a remarkable performance at the 2022 World Cup, the Angers midfielder is the target of the Italian club who would like to sign him this winter. However, this transfer may not take place, according to the Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport.
Citing Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, the newspaper reports that the agreement will not be concluded in January, as the non-European passport prevents him from being able to change clubs during the winter transfer window.
Revelation of the World Cup, Azzedine Ounahi has been agitating the transfer market since the end of the competition. This fight for his transfer could continue until the next summer transfer window.
