Moroccan Workers Rank Second in Spain’s Social Security System, Trailing Romania

Moroccans come in second place among foreigners registered in the social security system in Spain, after Romanians. Statistics from the Spanish Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Social Security show 2,086,400 foreign workers enrolled in social security.
Moroccan workers in Spain are ranked second, with 270,430 workers registered with social security in 2019, far behind Romanians, whose number of affiliates is 352,232 employees, still according to the note from the Spanish ministry.
The system, which has seen the number of registrants increase by 8.07% in the first quarter, provides access to healthcare, maternity leave, financial assistance, compensation in the event of a work accident and a retirement pension.
According to this note, the number of workers from non-European countries is estimated at 1,224,439, of whom 56% are male.
As of July 1 last year, Spain had 692,379 Moroccans, compared to 682,022 on January 1 of the same year.
