Moroccan Workers Lead Non-EU Social Security Enrollment in Spain

Moroccans occupy the first place among non-EU foreign workers contributing to social security in Spain. They are followed by Italians and Chinese, according to data published on Thursday, September 19, by the Spanish Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security.
Of all foreign workers registered with the Spanish social security system, 1,270,675 people are from non-EU countries and 862,231 are from European Union countries.
According to these figures provided to the Ministry of Labor by the National Institute of Statistics, the number of Moroccans legally established in Spain has seen a slight increase of 1.5%.
And, despite an increase in the affiliation of foreigners, whose number reached 2,132,906 people at the end of August, a decrease of 1.7%, or 37,461 fewer active people, compared to July, Moroccans are at the top with 244,358 affiliates.
On an annual basis, according to these figures, the number of registered foreigners increased by 7.33% in August, an increase of 145,699 people compared to the same month in 2018.
In addition, the number of foreign affiliates to the social security system continued to decline for the second consecutive month.
