Moroccan Workers Lead Non-EU Social Security Contributions in Spain, Topping 270,000

Moroccans are at the top of the list of non-EU foreign workers contributing to social security in Spain. There are 273,901 members as of the first half of 2019.
According to statistics from the Spanish Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security, Moroccans are followed in this ranking by Chinese (107,282), Ecuadorians (75,894) and Colombians (73,850).
The number of Moroccans legally residing in Spain was estimated at 812,412 people, up 5.4% from the previous year, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The same source indicates that the total number of foreigners affiliated with the Spanish social security system reached 2,178,269 people at the end of June 2019, an increase of 7.49% compared to the same period last year, or 151,710 more active people.
There are some 1,282,519 people from non-EU countries and 895,750 nationals of European Union countries among the foreign workers contributing to the Spanish social security.
Furthermore, the Spanish Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security has announced that on a monthly basis, the number of registered foreigners increased by 1.07% in June, or 23,120 more people than the previous month.
