Moroccan Workers Lead Non-EU Contributors to Spanish Social Security System

Moroccans residing in Spain remain at the top of the ranking of non-EU foreign workers contributing to the Spanish social security system, with a total of 254,664 people.
They are followed by the Chinese (92,385), Colombians (74,978) and Ecuadorians (68,916).
Also according to the ministry’s statistics, there are a total of 2,030,477 foreigners affiliated with the Spanish social security system in the first six months of this year, an increase of 20,593 active people. Among these foreigners, some 1,268,659 are from non-EU countries and 761,818 from EU countries, the same source details.
Moreover, in the general social security scheme, there are 1,674,965 foreign affiliates as of the end of May, while during this time, there are 350,875 registered in the self-employed scheme.
It should be noted that the number of Moroccans legally established in Spain continues to grow. As of January 1, 2020, it is estimated at 864,546 people, up 6.3% (50,959 people). This is at least what the data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) confirms.
