Moroccan Workers Face Dire Conditions at Ceuta-Morocco Border Crossing

The difficulties in obtaining tickets at the Ceuta border post regularly force Moroccan carriers to sleep on the ground, covered in plastic and blankets. A pathetic sight that leads many observers to say that this is a line of shame.
The Spanish media El faro de Ceuta has described the lamentable spectacle observed at the Ceuta-Morocco border. "Men and women will return home because, over the next seven days, they will no longer be able to cross ’Tarajal II’; they will not be able to play the role of a link in this chain that feeds the trade in goods between Ceuta and Morocco."
This sad observation is mainly due, according to the local newspaper, to the approach of Holy Week leading up to the Christian feast of Easter. This situation will therefore force many of them, especially the "mules", to "spend whole nights, in order to be able to enter through the passage and obtain the ticket to take out the merchandise".
In most cases, they are exposed to the elements and many abuses, including theft and assault. In the face of this desolate picture, it is silence that prevails on the part of the two countries. "What is happening there is silent, there are no complaints. Only the reports of NGOs are used to denounce a third-world situation that even Morocco wants to put an end to," continues the Spanish media.
