Moroccan Workers Embrace Hybrid and Remote Work, Survey Finds

The health crisis has pushed the labor market to change its functioning, particularly in terms of organization. In Morocco, 57% of workers prefer to work in a hybrid mode. A quarter of them have opted exclusively for remote work.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, the labor market has been disrupted, pushing Moroccan companies to adapt to the situation with a digitalization of activities, reports l’Économiste.

According to the latest survey conducted by ReKrute in November 2021 among 2,709 Moroccan workers, 57% of respondents prefer to work in a hybrid mode, and 25% exclusively in remote mode. Only 18% say they lean towards in-person.

Among those who prefer telework, 41% consider it a "good work tool", while 25% perceive it as an "extraordinary" mode. Only 4% discourage it.

This mode of work offers several advantages, among which they cite: time savings, a better work-life balance, reduced stress and fatigue, and increased productivity, they noted, noting in parallel that these positive aspects are followed by drawbacks, namely: the overflow of work time into personal life, isolation, lack of recognition and a potentially heavier workload.

As for companies, the survey revealed that, despite the absence of confinement and the easing of preventive measures, several companies continue to operate in telework. "Today, 62% of Moroccan companies working mainly in the call center, IT, banking, automotive, accounting and construction sectors apply telework," the study said, stating that "it has become a well-thought-out choice".
