Moroccan Worker Dies in Tragic Elevator Shaft Fall at Spanish Construction Site

A young Moroccan worker died on Tuesday after falling from the fifth floor in the elevator shaft of the building where he was working in Oviedo (Asturias).
Around 35 years old, the young man was found lifeless in the elevator shaft at the basement level by his wife, who had heard the violent noise of his fall from the fifth floor of the building where he was working. "I had gone down to get some water and I heard the noise. At first I thought it was a board that had fallen into the hole and I started calling him, but I went up and, seeing that he wasn’t answering, I was in a bad way," she tells El Comercio.
The victim’s wife then alerted the emergency services, who quickly arrived on the scene. But the doctors were unable to save the young man’s life, as he had already died. According to the initial investigation, it appears to be a "work accident," said sources from the National Police. The Moroccan’s remains were transferred to the Asturias Institute of Forensic Medicine for the autopsy.
