Moroccan Women Protest Rising Violence After Brutal Rape and Murder in Rabat

Moroccan women organized a protest rally in front of the Parliament to denounce the serial crimes of which they are victims. This movement follows the murder of a young woman, savagely raped and violently tortured with a "bottle" and a "screwdriver" in Rabat.
This demonstration follows the broadcast a few weeks ago of a video of rape followed by homicide. It shows the scene of a young girl raped in a closed place, in the Mellah district of Rabat. She had to flee naked towards Boulevard "Casablanca" with her tormentor on her heels. She will not be spared as the rapist, a 56-year-old man, inflicted multiple blows with a screwdriver and a bottle in different parts of her body and head.
Despite the arrest of the rapist, currently, and eight other people, for their alleged involvement in criminal acts related to "failure to report a crime" and "failure to assist a person in danger", a demonstration was held in Rabat, in front of the Parliament, to protest against violence against women. The demonstrators, supported by men, call for more security in the Kingdom but, above all, they demand firm sentences for the main perpetrators of these horrible acts.
