Moroccan Woman Murdered by Ex-Husband in Spain After Dropping Abuse Complaint

The Moroccan woman killed by her ex-husband in Adeje, in the Tenerife region, is the fourth victim of gender-based violence in Spain. She had refused to testify against her abuser who regularly beat her, leading the judge to release him.
Hayat had separated from this man who ended up tearing her life away, but she returned to live with him for economic reasons. She recently filed a complaint against him with the Civil Guard because he was constantly watching her, but she did not want to testify against him. The man was arrested and then released. The prosecutor also did not take over the case to protect the Moroccan woman, reports TeleCinco.
Hayat had met another man and wanted to leave with him to Morocco. "I have my eye on you. By going to Morocco, you’ll see what’s going to happen to you," threatened the ex-husband who constantly beat her, even when she was pregnant. Today, Hayat is no more. She was stabbed to death by her ex-husband, in front of their four children, one of whom was injured trying to defend his mother. They are currently under the care of the administration.
