When a Moroccan woman, married to a Frenchman, becomes a "dirty foreigner"

"Dirty race", "foreigner", "oh, AIDS, you dirty whore...": the racist insults and degrading messages rained down on the 30-year-old victim, the mother of their three children. The man, "bald, all muscles", even sent videos to his wife’s family in Morocco to smear her and make her out to be a "slut", reports Sud-Ouest.

"He’s stuck in a loop. He’s got it in his head that I cheated on him when I can’t even leave my house, except to go to my job at the Pellegrin hospital," the victim explained to the court, adding: "I can’t take it anymore, I can’t breathe. He sees evil everywhere. Today, I was at least expecting an apology."

Me Lempereur, the defendant’s lawyer, pleaded for a "split" and the loss of bearings of his client since he no longer works. "We have the impression of a split, from that moment on. That Mr. loses his footing, makes his wife the bad object and that everything collapses," he said.

For Me Liblanc-Neveu, the victim’s lawyer, "he needs to hear that he is not the victim today. If he is a victim of something, it is of his own paranoia." She recalled that the couple was happy before her client lost his job: "Before, we were happy, we saw life through rose-colored glasses. We had our children, we fought to buy our house, we traveled, we went out. Since he stopped working, everything has turned upside down. It’s as if he’s taking revenge on me."

The prosecutor, "very concerned" about Freddy Alves Martins’ behavior, had requested two years in prison, including one year firm, and the withdrawal of parental authority. The judges finally imposed a one-year prison sentence and ordered the defendant to be held in custody, "given his dangerousness".
