Moroccan Woman Fulfills Lifelong Dream, Becomes Architect While Balancing Career

Hind, a 40-year-old Moroccan, a housewife, employed in a real estate agency in Casablanca, dreamed of becoming an architect. Today, it is a dream come true for this woman who has shown perseverance and tenacity.

Hind’s passion is architecture. While working for a real estate developer in Casablanca, she came across a major call for tenders. She immediately contacts internationally renowned architects. "And that’s where I crossed the path of architecture that I fell in love with," she tells franceinfo. She decides to reconcile studies and professional life. These architecture studies take her to Paris. She makes round trips by air.

End of the first year. Her employer asks her to make a choice. This choice is quickly made. Even if Hind acknowledges that "these are very difficult studies where we are challenged, we are pushed back, we come out of a path where we had become an expert in our profession, we are recognized and then we move on to another path where we doubt, where we find ourselves useless, we are never convinced of what we do," she preferred to study.

Hind leaves her old job to throw herself body and soul into the future. "When you fall in love, reason no longer works. I couldn’t have accomplished everything I’ve done so far without really falling in love," she says.

After many years of sacrifice, she finally achieves her goal, that of becoming a fully-fledged architect. Hind says she is happy with the path she has taken. "In fact, when I look back, I might not have done it because it’s really a mountain to climb, really it’s hard. On the other hand, today I am really proud. I’ve always had confidence in myself but it has reinforced things, I feel more grounded. There are things that have changed. I feel at peace."
