Moroccan Wives of ISIS Fighters Offered Repatriation from Syrian Camps
Sunday 9 June 2019, by
A team of five members, mobilized by the international coalition, has made contact with the Moroccan wives of Daesh jihadists, detained in the camps of the Syrian Democratic Forces, El Qasd.
With the main objective of weakening and exterminating the Daesh organization, the coalition, which brings together 80 countries including Morocco, is currently conducting lengthy investigations into Moroccan women detained in the El Qasd camps. According to Al Massae, the team is offering the Moroccan women the possibility of returning to Morocco as well as mediation with the Moroccan authorities.
More than 400 Moroccan women and 300 children live in precarious situations within the refugee camps in northern Syria, where they are detained in inhumane conditions by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
As part of respect for international humanitarian standards, the coalition had previously proposed to the Moroccan government the urgent repatriation of Moroccan women and children detained in these camps, as well as their integration into the socio-economic fabric.
The daily adds that meetings have been held between Moroccan officials and the judicial authorities of the coalition to study ways to avoid the radicalization of the children of Moroccan Daesh jihadists, through the implementation of adequate psychological support.
