Moroccan University Denies Reports of 70 Sexual Harassment Complaints Against Faculty

The Abdelmalek Essaadi University did not record 70 complaints of sexual harassment against its professors, the administration claims, denouncing these rumors that aim to tarnish its image.
In a press release, the university denied the number of 70 complaints filed against certain professors, specifying that "all the channels including the toll-free number and the email that have been set up to receive such complaints, have never reached this exaggerated number of claims."
This figure published in the press would be false according to the note, and "undermines the reputation and dignity of the professors, administrators, students and graduates of the University." In this sense, the university which "is committed to protecting all its components" reserves the "right to take all legal measures to defend the reputation of the university."
However, the administration acknowledges, a complaint is currently before the courts and to which "several legal elements" have been added. The complaint targets a professor from the King Fahd School of Translation in Tangier, under the Abdelmalek Essaadi University. The latter, in detention, appeared on Friday, January 21 before the Court of Appeal of Tangier.
