Moroccan Trucker Faces €3.5 Million Fine, Prison for Massive Cannabis Smuggling at French Border

A truck driver of Moroccan origin has just been sentenced to pay a heavy customs fine in France. The latter was transporting a large quantity of cannabis.
French customs agents arrested a truck driver transporting cannabis pollen. He was transporting 351 kilos of narcotics, and the judge fined him 3.5 million euros in customs duties. In addition to this fine, he was sentenced to three years in prison.
On the evening of the incident, agents at the Perthus, a strategic border crossing point between Spain and France, were on alert at the A9 toll booth. This is where they spotted the suspicious truck and decided to intervene. The absence of other passengers on board aroused their suspicion, leading them to a thorough search of the vehicle. To their great surprise, they did not find any legitimate goods, but rather ten carefully packaged bales.
When the police opened one of the packages, they found a substance and performed a quick drug test. They confirmed that it was cannabis pollen. In total, the drug weighed 351 kilos.
Last December 15, in immediate appearance, he must have regretted this adventure after hearing the verdict. In addition to the astronomical fine, he was sentenced to three years in prison and a five-year ban from the territory.
