Moroccan Town Denies Beach Entry Fee, Clarifies Parking Charge at Popular Coastal Spots

The commune of Beni Ensar, under the province of Nador, denies having imposed a 10 dirham tax on people wishing to swim on the beaches of Miami and Bocana. It also denounces "rumors" coming from "people seeking to harm the public interests of the commune".
In a statement, the commune of Beni Ensar is as clear as possible. The mentioned tax on a sign at the entrance of the beach concerns "the parking lots inside the Boukhana-Miami beach, where seventeen guarded points have been set up by the commune, which has led it to decide to install a post to collect the parking fees for cars at the entrance of the beach, in accordance with the law," it explained.
This tax has been "set at 10 dirhams per car, for which the car owners receive a payment receipt in accordance with the legal conditions," the commune specified. It also reassured citizens that "the beach is open free of charge to the public." And to add: this decision is part of "the organization of the 2024 summer season, and in agreement with the fight against all forms of encroachment on public property by unidentified individuals imposing parking fees on beach visitors without authorization and without right".
