Moroccan TikTok Influencer Arrested Over ’Indecent’ Videos
A Moroccan TikToker has been placed in pre-trial detention in the Taza prison following the publication of videos deemed indecent on her TikTok account. The Jorf El Melha prosecutor’s office accuses her of several charges, including public indecency, exhibitionism and incitement to debauchery.
The influencer is also accused of having disseminated false information in order to harm the privacy and reputation of others. Her controversial publications have caused an uproar on social media, leading to the launch of a petition calling for the authorities to intervene.
This case is part of a context of increased repression of illegal online content in Morocco. Several influential social media personalities have recently been arrested for publications contrary to the laws in force. Some have been sentenced to prison terms.
