Moroccan Terror Suspect Arrested in Barcelona, Allegedly Targeted El Clásico Match

A joint operation carried out by the Spanish Guardia Civil and the Moroccan intelligence service, in collaboration with the FBI, led to the arrest on Friday, May 8 in Barcelona, of a suspected Moroccan terrorist. The defendant was targeting the Real-Barça Clasico, according to sources close to the Spanish Guardia Civil.
We know a little more about the arrest of the suspected Moroccan terrorist. According to local media, the defendant had decided to act during one of these matches that bring together a large crowd. He would have planned a knife attack by slitting the throat of one of his victims.
Unfortunately, the cancellation of the competitions due to covid-19 thwarted the odious plan of this Moroccan, who has been living in Belgium for about ten years.
For the Guardia civil, the detainee is "completely influenced by the propaganda and postulates of Daesh." He would even have recently sworn allegiance to this terrorist organization.
