Moroccan Tennis Player Banned for Life After Record 135 Match-Fixing Violations

Guilty of a record number of violations, former Moroccan tennis player Younes Rachidi has been banned for life from any tennis-related activity.
Younes Rachidi committed 135 match-fixing violations, according to Thursday’s statements from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), which says it has never heard of such a high number of violations committed by the same person in the sport.
At 36 years old, Younes Rachidi represented Morocco ten times in the Davis Cup, and recorded his best ATP ranking as 473rd in the world in doubles in 2013 (753rd in singles). His last professional match under the Moroccan colors dates back to 2017. The former tennis player was flagged during the investigation conducted in cooperation with the ITIA Belgium. Other players will join Rachidi and the two Algerians banned by the ITIA in this match-fixing case.
With this sanction, Younes Rachidi will never again be able to "play, coach or attend any official tennis event," the ITIA states in its press release. In addition to his lifetime ban, he is fined $34,000.
