Moroccan Teen Stabbed in Suspected Homophobic Attack in Madrid Park

A young Moroccan was violently attacked in Madrid because of his sexual orientation. He filed a complaint with the police.
The events took place on December 22. While he was sitting on a bench in the park of his neighborhood, Ali*, 19, is approached by a man he had never seen before. He asks him if he is "gay" before stabbing him. The victim gets away with an arm injury and five stitches, reports El Diario. But the moral pain is more severe for this young Moroccan.
"That these things happen to me in Spain is something traumatic because it makes me relive the situations I lived in Morocco and feel in an insecure context," he laments. The young man confesses that it is his sexual orientation that would be at the root of his flight from the kingdom where, he says, he had been imprisoned for six months, under the law that criminalizes homosexuals. "I have experienced many episodes of social and family discrimination, etc. I literally fled to have a safe life in a place where being gay is not a problem".
Ali now lives in a public reception center for LGBT refugees. Accompanied by the Kifkif association, which, among other things, receives and takes care of migrants and asylum seekers for reasons of sexual orientation.
