Moroccan Taxi Driver Jailed for False Bribery Claim Against Gendarme on Social Media

A five-month prison sentence has just been handed down by the court of first instance in Settat against a man who filmed and blackmailed a gendarme.
According to sources cited by the Alyaoum24 website, the accused, a taxi driver, had filmed the gendarme and claimed in a video posted on social media that he had asked him for a bribe, which turned out to be false after the police investigation.
Prosecuted for dissemination of image of a person without his consent, insulting a civil servant in the exercise of his duties and defamation, the man was also ordered to pay a fine of 5,000 dirhams.
