Moroccan Tax Authorities Crack Down on Influencers’ Undeclared Income

Moroccan influencers are summoned by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) to declare their income and pay their taxes. They have received reminder letters, certainly the last warning before the repression phase.
The year 2023 could be difficult for Moroccan influencers who have not declared their income or paid their taxes. The DGI no longer intends to let this segment of citizens escape their obligations, reports Maroc Diplomatique.
This is why the tax authorities no longer intend to give influencers any respite. After months of investigations, the DGI has sufficient information and a concrete action plan whose approaches and methods have proven their worth. In addition to replenishing the state’s coffers, the DGI intends to identify tax evaders. And influencers are at the top of the list.
The DGI’s investigators will have to verify whether the income of the influencers corresponds to their lifestyle and what they let show in their publications on TikTok, YouTube or Instagram.
