Moroccan Taekwondo Star Demands Probe into Olympic Exclusion

The Moroccan Olympic taekwondo champion, Fatima-Zahra Abou Fares, excluded from the 2020 Olympics, cries scandal. She demands the opening of an investigation to know the reasons for her dismissal.

Cited in this scandal, the Royal Moroccan Taekwondo Federation (FRMTK) has tried to justify its choice. According to the FRMTK press release, the 17-year-old girl will not compete in the next Olympics in Tokyo next summer, due to the injury she sustained in Argentina.

The recent examinations carried out by the medical committee and the technical management, during the last concentration in France, revealed an inflammation that affected the athlete at the level of the Achilles tendon. According to the national taekwondo body, Abou Fares has not yet regained the required level to compete in the next Olympic qualifications.

The Federation also explained, in the same document, that it has taken the necessary decisions, in collaboration with her coach, so that the athlete can be treated in Morocco or in France.

In front of the press, the Olympic champion and her coach have refuted these allegations. They demand, with medical certificates in hand, the opening of an investigation to reveal the real reasons for her exclusion.
