Moroccan Suspect Faces Prison for Fatal Church Attack in Algeciras, Spain

The public prosecutor’s office of the National Court has requested prison without bail against Yassine Kanjaa, the Moroccan presumed terrorist who stabbed a sacristan to death and injured another in Algeciras.
Accused of murder and attempted murder, the alleged terrorist risks prison, according to sources from the public prosecutor’s office to El Diario. After his arrest by the local police of Algeciras, Yassine Kanjaa was transferred to the offices of the general police information post where he has been detained since Friday.
The police discovered that Kanjaa had links with jihadist groups on social networks. His roommates also testified that his mental health has deteriorated in recent weeks. Kanjaa had been arrested in June for violation of the law on foreigners and expulsion proceedings had been initiated against him. This would have been refused by Morocco, according to Spanish media.
