Moroccan Suspect Arrested in Canary Islands After Attempted Knife Attack on Police Officer

Spanish National Police officers arrested on Sunday a 25-year-old Moroccan man who tried to stab a police officer who was chasing him. The suspect is said to be involved in an armed robbery.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning in the Plaza de España neighborhood (Tenerife). An agent from the citizen security brigade was pursuing the Moroccan, who at one point stopped in his tracks to confront him, reports El Dia, adding that the suspect drew a knife and tried to stab the police officer.
The police officer and his other colleagues who joined him were able to subdue the individual, who was then taken to the police station in the southern district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Accused of the crime of attacks against the authorities, he was placed in custody, pending his appearance before the competent court.
