Moroccan Surfer Ramzi Boukhiam Advances to Olympic Round of 16 in Tokyo

Good news from Tokyo for the Moroccan Ramzi Boukhiam. He qualified on Sunday for the round of 16 of the surfing event, part of the ongoing Olympics in Japan.
The Moroccan surfer Ramzi Boukhiam finished Sunday in 2nd place in the 4th qualifying series with a total of 10.23 points, behind Australian Owen Aus Wright (10.40 pts), while the third place went to American John Florence (8.37 pts). He thus obtains his ticket for the round of 16 scheduled for this Monday. He will have to face Frenchman Michel Bourez.
Boukhiam is the first Moroccan and Arab surfer to qualify for the Olympics, after winning the fifth round of the ISA World Surfing Games in Miyazaki, Japan in 2020.
