Moroccan Students Excel in Elite French Engineering School Admissions

Students from the Lycée d’Excellence de Benguérir (Lydex) have once again shone in the competitions of the French grandes écoles. Twenty-four of them were admitted to the entrance exam of the École Polytechnique in Paris.
New feat for Lydex. 24 of its students successfully passed the admission exam for the École Polytechnique in Paris. Among them, six girls. In 2021, 11 students from the institution had joined this high place of French knowledge, reported the newspaper Le Figaro. Created in 2009 by the Moroccan phosphate giant OCP, Lydex has set itself the mission of training the brightest students in Morocco in the fields related to engineering. It is located in the green city of Mohammed VI, in Ben Guérir, "city of knowledge and innovation".
Founded in 1794 by the National Convention under the name of École centrale des travaux publics, the École Polytechnique in Paris is the first engineering institute in France. It trains engineers recruited each year through one of the oldest and most difficult admission competitions that students in preparatory classes take, but also through parallel admissions for university students. The school has welcomed more than 160 Moroccan students during the 2020-2021 academic year. It has risen to 61st place on the list of the best engineering schools in the world, according to the 2021 Times Higher Education global university ranking.
