Moroccan Student to Represent Nation in Arab Reading Challenge Finals

The Minister of National Education, Saaïd Amzazi, announced Morocco’s participation in the 5th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge competition. The Kingdom will be represented by Sara Daïf, a native of the province of Taroudant.
This student from the Ibn Souleiman Erroudani high school will participate alongside nine other Moroccan students in November in Dubai under the supervision of a jury from Arab countries. The competition will be organized remotely due to the health crisis caused by the coronavirus. The preliminary rounds took place in October and involved the participation of 113 students, representing several regional academies of education and training (AREF).
To succeed in the challenge, the candidate must go through 5 stages of the competition. It consists of reading ten books and producing summaries. In total, 84,000 students managed to read 50 books each for the summary work. Morocco, which won the third edition in 2018, has been participating in this competition since 2015.
For the Minister of National Education, who chaired the opening ceremony, this competition will change the perception of reading in Morocco and in the Arab world in general.
