Moroccan Striker Scores After Facing Racist Abuse in Madrid Derby

Salim El-Jebari, the Moroccan striker of Atlético Madrid’s reserve team, was the target on Saturday of racist insults from some supporters during the match against Real Madrid Castilla (2-2). The player responded in the best possible way by scoring a goal.
Salim El-Jebari was whistled and subjected to racist insults from the supporters in the stands of Valdebebas. But the player of Moroccan origin remained focused on the game and even scored the equalizing goal for Atlético Madrid, who were trailing 1-0. "It was a difficult game. I saw the team very well, create opportunities and suffer when necessary," commented the young striker.
This goal by Salim El-Jebari is the result of the confidence placed in him by the Atlético B coaches, and the team’s determination. "The technical staff had already told us that the goalkeeper was coming out very quickly. I took advantage of the fact that I was running, I looked up to try to cross, but I saw that he was arriving very quickly and I shot at goal," he explained to Mundo Deportivo.
The Moroccan striker harassed the Real Madrid Castilla defense, provoking the insults from the Madrid supporters. After his goal, Salim El-Jebari went towards them and showed them his name on the jersey, which angered these supporters who continued to boo him and hurl racist insults at him.
