Moroccan Striker En-Nesyri Leads World in Goals After Record Transfer to Fenerbahce
Youssef En-Nesyri is delivering remarkable performances at Fenerbahce. With 11 goals in nine appearances, the Moroccan international is the top scorer in the world since the start of the season, tied in goals with Ousmane Dembélé (PSG).
En-Nesyri arrived at Fenerbahce last summer from Seville for 19.5 million euros, a record amount that makes him the most expensive signing in the history of the Super League. "It wasn’t easy to leave Seville, I had been there for a long time," said the Moroccan international (78 games, 23 goals) upon his arrival at the Turkish club.
The Moroccan striker quickly integrated in Istanbul. With his brace in the Copa against Erzurumspor (5-0), he has become the top scorer in the world since the start of the season with a total of 11 goals in 9 games, tied in goals with Ousmane Dembélé of PSG, ahead of Marcos Leonardo (Al Hilal, 10 goals), Emam Ashour (Al Ahly, 10 goals) and Alex (Dewa United, 9 goals).
The former Seville player scores on average a goal every 64 minutes. With Dzeko, he forms an efficient duo. "Playing with two strikers makes everything easier. Edin is a great striker. We can help each other," he told Marca.
The Moroccan international with exceptional aerial qualities is doing wonders in the Turkish club. "We see why Mourinho insists so much on him (En-Nesyri, ed.) in every game and why he is the most expensive signing in the history of the Super League," said Ridvan Dilmen, former Fenerbahçe player and coach.
