Moroccan Strawberry Pickers Return Home as Spain-Morocco Border Restrictions Ease

The latest wave of seasonal workers in the strawberry fields in Huelva blocked in Spain, has joined Morocco, this Tuesday.
Due to the tightened health restrictions in the kingdom in recent days, these women were unable to join their families yet. This will be done this Tuesday, July 13, report the Spanish media, specifying that their boat docked in the afternoon, at the port of Tangier from Algeciras.
Their agricultural organization recalled that "the end of the return operation was brought forward by one day due to the conditions of access to Morocco, set by the Moroccan government in this period of pandemic," and added that "All Moroccan workers will enter Morocco, by ferry, with a negative PCR test".
For the record, this return operation began a month ago. The first group, made up of around 660 women, arrived in Morocco on June 15 and since then, based on an agreement between the Spanish and Moroccan authorities, four ships, providing a weekly service, have been mobilized.
