Moroccan Star Saâd Lamjarred’s Hit "Salam" Removed from YouTube Amid Plagiarism Claims
Monday 28 October 2019, by
Accused of plagiarism by another Moroccan singer, the latest video by Saâd Lamjarred, "Salam", has just been removed from YouTube. The various discussions between the two artists have apparently not led to an agreement.
Moroccan singer Hicham Talmoudi has forced Saâd Lamjarred to withdraw this song composed several years ago. The latter had indicated that he wanted an amicable agreement and, therefore, financial compensation. But it seems that the effort has not been successful.
Talmoudi accuses Saâd Lamjarred’s team of having taken the rhythm and choruses of his song "Aglal Souss" without citing the source and without prior permission.
Disappointed by this lack of professional courtesy and, after having vainly sought an amicable settlement, the artist, who has proven the paternity of the song, had it removed from YouTube for copyright infringement.
"I’m not looking for a scandal, I’m waiting to see what we’re going to conclude, they have to pay me the rights...", he had then explained. Apparently, an agreement has not been found. And, for YouTube, the plagiarism is obvious, said Hicham Talmoudi.
