Moroccan Star Ounahi Seeks Redemption in La Liga, Eyes AFCON Glory with National Team

Newly recruited by the Spanish club Gérone, Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has reflected on the difficulties he faced over the past two seasons. The player has acknowledged making misjudgments after the 2022 World Cup, mainly related to relational choices.
In an interview, the midfielder confided that he had gone through trying times. "I made choices I shouldn’t have made, and I also put my trust in people who betrayed me," he said. However, he considers this period as a formative experience: "But thank God, I’m now starting a new chapter. What happened to me allowed me to mature and grow."
This new stage of his career will take place in the Spanish first division, a championship that, according to him, is a dream for him. "I’m excited to play and discover the Spanish Liga, which I’ve been following and dreaming of since the beginning of my football practice," he said.
When asked about the national team, Azzedine Ounahi reaffirmed his total commitment. "The national team means everything to me, I’m ready to give my life for it," he specified, before addressing the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. "We are aware of the weight of the pressures on our shoulders, but all the players know that it is necessary to keep the title at home."
Azzedine Ounahi, 25, has signed a five-season contract with Gérone. The transfer from Olympique de Marseille was carried out for an amount of around six million euros. The player is coming off a season on loan at Panathinaikos (Greece).
