Moroccan Star Douzi Hints at Music Retirement, Exits Talent Show

At 39, Moroccan singer Abdelhafid Douzi could soon draw a line under his musical career. He also announced that he was withdrawing from the jury of the "Star Light" show, dedicated to the discovery of musical talents.

During a press conference organized on Thursday on the sidelines of his participation in the Mawazine Festival, Abdelhafid Douzi announced that he would withdraw from "Star Light" due to a health problem affecting his back that does not allow him to sit for long periods during the filming of the show. He is also considering retiring from music. The singer confided that this idea crosses the minds of many artists, due to the pressures experienced in the artistic field, as well as the problems and rumors that constantly pursue the artists. Douzi also mentioned his duet with his compatriot Dounia Batma. "The delay in the release of the "duo" has made the song "outdated"," he said. Consequently, the release of this single remains uncertain.

Abdelhafid Douzi lit up the Nahda stage on Thursday evening, as part of the 19th edition of the Mawazine - Rhythms of the World Festival which ends this Saturday. He performed a set of iconic songs that have marked his artistic career since his beginnings. He performed "Ana Maghribi" at the start of his concert and closed his show in apotheosis with "Laâyoune Ainya". This song commemorates the event of the Green March and remains engraved in the memory of successive generations.
