Moroccan-Spanish Man Shoots Civil Guard in Malaga Standoff

A young man of Moroccan origin, armed, barricaded himself on Monday in a house in Mijas (Malaga), from where he opened fire, injuring a civil guard in the foot.
The 21-year-old young man is said to have had an argument with his mother at the family home in Malaga. His brothers alerted the Civil Guard, who dispatched a patrol to the scene. On their arrival, the Moroccan opened fire, injuring one of the agents in the foot, according to sources close to the investigation told Europa Press.
Several agents were deployed to secure the area. After several attempts at negotiations, the young Spanish man of Moroccan origin finally stopped his actions. The suspect moves in a wheelchair. He would be paraplegic after receiving five bullets when leaving a restaurant.
On October 22, 2022, as he had left the establishment with two friends, an individual shot at them six times before fleeing on a motorcycle. The young man was hit by four bullets in the back and shoulder and a fifth in the spine.
The defendant is known to the police since he was a minor. He had been arrested several times for various offenses, including the knife attack on his stepfather in 2020, or his involvement in a kidnapping recorded in El Ejido (Almería) a year later.
