Moroccan Soccer Stars Struggle After Shock Africa Cup Exit

The return to reality, after the humiliating exit from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), is quite trying for several Moroccan internationals. While for some it is difficult to reconnect with competition, others, on the other hand, have lost their starting place within their club.
Various fortunes for the Moroccan internationals after the 2019 CAN. They are going through a difficult ordeal after their debacle against Benin in the round of 16, reports the site Le360.ma.
Medhi Benatia of Qatar, Younès Belhanda of Galatasaray, Romain Saïs of Wolverhampton, Marwan Da Costa of Ittijad, Nordine Amrabat of An-Nassr, Mbark Boussoufa, not to mention the Moroccans of Ajax, are facing various trying situations. They are no longer able to convince on the green grass.
The poor performances of the captain of the Atlas Lions, Medhi Benatia, in Qatar, do not reassure the Portuguese coach, Rui Faria, who does not hesitate to leave him on the bench. This bad patch is also experienced at Galatasaray by Younès Belhanda, who is about to be sold to a Saudi club. On the Wolverhampton side, Romain Saïs has simply been sidelined during the American tour. As for the Atlas Lions defender, Marwan Da Costa, he has also been relegated to the bench by his Ittihad club, which would also like to sell him to the Saudi club of Al Hilal. After the 2019 CAN, Mbark Boussoufa remains without a club, while Nordine Amrabat is missing the calls of the An-Nassr coach.
At the level of Ajax, it is the way of the cross for the Moroccan leaders. Hakim Ziyech, for his part, remains nonetheless. His project to transfer to a major European club is no longer on the agenda.
