Moroccan Soccer Stars’ Mass Exodus to Egyptian Clubs Alarms Fans

Many Moroccan players have decided to join Egyptian clubs during the last summer transfer window. A flight of talent that worries Moroccan supporters.
During the last transfer window, Moroccan international Yahya Attiat-Allah from the Russian club Sotchi signed for Al Ahly of Egypt. The same goes for Achraf Dari, his former teammate from Wydad of Casablanca, who left Stade Brestois for the Egyptian club. Mahmoud Bentayg, former player of Raja of Casablanca, for his part, joined the Zamalek club from Saint-Étienne.
Moroccan supporters have expressed their anger at the departure of Moroccan talents to Egypt. According to some analysts, the rush of Moroccan players to Egypt could be explained by the difficult financial situation of the Moroccan Botola clubs, including Raja and Wydad of Casablanca, and AS FAR, compared to the Egyptian clubs.
According to the latter, the Moroccan clubs are weighed down by debt and find themselves unable to recruit players with an average market value. This rush of Moroccan players to Egyptian clubs is unfortunately likely to continue, as long as the financial health of the Botola clubs is not improved, say the observers.
