Moroccan Soccer Player Among 20 Migrants Drowned in Spain-Bound Boat Tragedy

The body of Hussein Biay was washed ashore at the end of March. The player from the Étoile de Midar football club is one of the migrants who drowned on February 27 after their boat capsized while trying to reach Spain from the coast of Nador.
The identity of the 20-year-old player was revealed after DNA analysis was carried out on his body that was washed ashore, according to local sources. Hussein Biay was one of the 56 illegal immigration candidates who had boarded an inflatable boat on February 27 from the Tcharana-Boumahafoud region, Beni Chiker community, heading towards Spain.
Unfortunately, the boat capsized due to strong winds and heavy waves. In total, at least 20 occupants, including the player, died by drowning in this "Black Tuesday" shipwreck that plunged the Rif region into mourning. Only 9 people survived this tragedy.
