Moroccan Soccer Coach Defies COVID Quarantine, Sparks Match Controversy

The coach of Olympique de Khourigba tested positive for coronavirus and should remain in quarantine for two weeks. But against all odds and in violation of the health protocol, he showed up on the field, endangering the lives of the two teams facing each other in Botola.
Aziz Kerkach was seen on the sidelines at the start of the match pitting his club against Ittihad de Tanger, when he should not have been there. The local authorities asked the match delegate to cancel the match, as the presence on the field of the contaminated coach represented a real danger. He had time to compromise the health safety of the players, staff and referees. But the match took place despite the categorical refusal of the local authorities.
Since this incident, concern is at its peak within the clubs. Many are wondering about the credibility and seriousness of the health protocol imposed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
