Moroccan Soccer Club Condemns Racist Social Media Post Ahead of Match
Thursday 5 March 2020, by
Raja Casablanca has sought to clarify the racist photomontage, created by some of its supporters, a few hours before its victory, to taunt their opponent on social media.
This photo displays the characteristics of a Homo sapiens, wearing a Wydad jersey, with the TP Mazembe logo, emblazoned with the following caption: "Congolese nationals residing in Morocco must be sad", reports Hespress.
This scandalous publication has provoked the reaction of Raja, who immediately posted a message to completely dissociate itself from this montage. "Raja Club Athletic is surprised that its name is mentioned by certain media, which report on probable statements that may have been made on social networks, before the match against T.P. Mazembe. According to these media, these statements would contain racist insinuations," the club deplored on social networks.
According to the club, it is "a disinformation campaign" that would have been fabricated from scratch by certain Moroccan media.
"Raja Club Athletic and all its components (committee, members and public) condemn this disinformation campaign at an important moment of the season. Raja Club Athletic recalls that it has official pages alone authorized to express its positions and publish its statements."
For the record, the return match between the two African teams will take place on March 7, on the Mazembe stadium pitch.
