Moroccan Sisters Arrested in Adultery Scandal Involving Expatriate’s Wife

Two married sisters were arrested on Monday in Youssoufia for extramarital relations. The suspects were found in an apartment with two individuals.
The judicial police elements intervened very early in the morning, following a complaint filed by a Moroccan residing abroad, who suspected his wife of infidelity. He accused her of having extramarital relations during his absence.
Accompanied by police officers, the MRE burst into the apartment where his wife was, to catch her in the act of adultery. According to the daily Assabah, the wife confessed to having been invited to the evening by her sister’s lover.
Faced with the investigators, the mother of 2 children, married for 13 years to a Moroccan residing abroad, admitted to having had an extramarital relationship for many months. This is also the case for her sister. The 2 spouses refused to waive the legal action.
The Moroccan Penal Code is clear in its Article 489. "Any married person convicted of adultery shall be punished by imprisonment of one to two years. Prosecution is only brought on the complaint of the offended spouse."
