An imam serving in a mosque in Tizi Ntast, in the province of Taroudant, was caught in flagrante delicto of adultery at the home of his mistress.
The two individuals involved were under surveillance by elements of the royal gendarmerie, following a complaint filed by the husband. He had doubts about his wife’s relationship with the Fqih.
Taken into custody, they are to be brought before the courts in the coming days.
Note that Article 489 of the Moroccan Penal Code is very clear on adultery. "Any married person convicted of adultery shall be punished by imprisonment of one to two years. Prosecution is only initiated upon complaint of the offended spouse."
