Moroccan Singers Compete for Lucrative Gulf Cabaret Contracts

Young and veteran Moroccan artists are fighting to get lucrative contracts with a Moroccan "producer" in the United Arab Emirates, which allows them to perform in Gulf cabarets.
Many budding and famous singer-artists all want the same thing: to perform in Gulf cabarets to gain visibility and cash. To do this, they need contracts that they obtain with the help of a compatriot, well-connected in the show business milieu, in the Gulf countries, reports Assabah.
These contracts allow them to perform for a few hours in a club or cabaret for a fee of 30,000 dirhams per show, in addition to accommodation and catering. With luck, some receive donations from guests or customers.
Since a famous artist, excelling in the interpretation of the greatest classics of Arab song, obtained a one-year contract in a cabaret in the United Arab Emirates, it is now a rush to this Gulf country. Singing artists, especially those of the older generation, are fighting to land contracts. And they are even ready to give in to the whims of the "producer", who sometimes does not hesitate to infantilize them.
