Moroccan Singer Saâd Lamjarred Faces Trial for Alleged 2016 Paris Hotel Rape

Accused of having raped and beaten a young woman in 2016 in a Parisian hotel on the sidelines of a concert, the Moroccan singer Saâd Lamjarred will appear as early as Monday, February 20 before the Paris Assize Court. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
Monday will mark the start of a five-day trial of the 37-year-old Moroccan singer Saâd Lamjarred, which will open before the Paris Assize Court. He will be tried for aggravated rape and aggravated violence. The facts he is accused of date back to 2016. He is accused of having abused Laura P., then 21 years old, on the night of October 25 to 26 in a Parisian hotel after a meeting the day before in a nightclub. That night, the young woman had to flee the room with her torn t-shirt. The interpreter of "M3allem" has always denied these accusations.
Lawyers Jean-Marc Fedida and Thierry Herzog will defend the singer. Laura P., now 27, "will come to confront" Saad Lamjarred at the hearing "for this trial that she is waiting for," said her counsel, Jean-Marc Descoubès.
