Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma May Be Released Early from Prison Sentence

Sentenced to one year in prison in the "Hamza mon Bb" case, Moroccan singer Dounia Batma has already served half of her sentence. Bahraini producer Mohamed Al-Turk mentions a possible release of his ex-wife.
Will Dounia Batma soon regain her freedom? In a video posted on social media, her ex-husband Mohamed Al-Turk said that the singer could be released from prison in 12 days. A few days ago, Batma’s defense requested a royal pardon for their client, who has already spent six months in the Oudaya prison in Marrakech. They hope that this pardon will be granted on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Dounia had been sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams in the "Hamza mon Bb" case. Last January, the judicial police brigade had arrested the singer in an apartment on Boulevard Moulay Youssef in Casablanca, where she had taken refuge after learning of the execution of the judgment against her. She had then been taken to the Oudaya prison in Marrakech to serve her sentence. The interpreter of Kharboucha had meanwhile requested a royal pardon. Her lawyers had taken legal steps in this direction, but the court had rejected the request.
