Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma’s Appeal Trial Resumes After Multiple Delays

Postponed for the 7th time, the appeal trial of the Moroccan singer, Dounia Batma, will see a new chapter this Wednesday at the Marrakech Court of Appeal.
48 hours after the hearing of Soukaina Glamour, journalist Simo Dahir and the owner of a car rental agency, it is Dounia Batma and her sister’s turn to appear before the Marrakech Court of Appeal.
The last hearing of this case with multiple twists and turns had been postponed at the beginning of the month, due to the health condition of the judge in charge of the file, reported the site Alyaoum24.
To recall, Dounia Batma and her sister, Ibtissam, were sentenced respectively to 8 and 12 months in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams each. The defendants are being prosecuted for "participation in fraudulent access to the computer data processing system and dissemination of images and statements of others without their consent, with the aim of harming or defaming".
